Busy Weekend

Since Tim went to Kansas City this weekend for the White Sox game, I decided that it would be the perfect opportunity to go up to my parents' house for the weekend since I don't like to sleep alone in the house. So on Friday night, we packed up the car (because Tim had the van) and headed off.

Saturday was a very busy day. We got up early and got ready to make the highly anticipated trip to Brookfield Zoo. For the boys it was high anticipated - I hate the zoo. So after finding the longest possible route to the zoo, we paid $8.00 for parking and then started the walk to the gate. The boys were delighted to find out that it was Beanie Baby day, so they received a bear wearing a jazzy Uncle Sam hat.
So we took the obligatory picture at the entrance and set off. We got to see lots of animals. At each animal stop the boys would look for a minute, I'd mention a fun fact about the animal, and then Benny would say, "Can we see something else Mommy?"

Not more than 5 minutes after we got inside the gates, Benny started asking to ride the train. The train was actually the tram, but whatever. Finally after an hour and a half I gave in. He couldn't have been more excited.

Sammy took in the sights for about three minutes before he climbed into my lap and fell asleep.

After we got back from the zoo, we left right away to go to my brother Patrick's last baseball game of the year. This was a big day for my dad because it was his grand finale of little coaching. Patrick's team lost, but not before they forced the game into extra innings. My dad was done his fair share of baseball and softball coaching starting with myself on down the line. I think he's excited to put the baseball/softball chapter behind him. Actually, as soon as the trophies were handed out, he proclaimed that it was now football season. This will be a big year this year because his appearance as the Our Lady of Peace Varsity head football coach will be his coaching swan song.

After the baseball game I went with my family to a graduation party. I planned only to stay for about an hour because I was going to meet my friends Tom and Bob. Luckily, while moving the boys' car seats from my car to my dad's car, I misplaced my keys. It literally took 45 minutes if searching to find them. They had somehow found their way INTO Sammy's car seat. But the best part of the party was that my Grandpa Kenny (GPK) was there. That was a very nice surprise!

The highlight of the party for Benny was the moon jump. He got on it as soon as we got there, and was on it for literally hours.

Believe it or not, we crammed all of this into one day! The boys were exhausted, but Benny informed me that he and Sammy had a very fun time.
