Cell Phones Without Cameras?

2005 was a magical year for the Kresl family. Sammy joined our family a short three days after the purchase of our first house. The first Kresl Kickoff Classic was held at the soon to be named Aaron Rowand Memorial Beer Garden. The White Sox won a very memorable World Series. And I received my first picture phone for Christmas from my lovely wife. My MotoRazor and I have been through a lot in the past year and a half. Actually, my three MotoRazors and I have been through a lot. The first two had minor defects (thank goodness for protection plans). I noticed my memory was getting full and remembered losing a lot of pictures in the change of phones twice. I decided I should e-mail all my pictures to myself so that I don't lose them. I got some good ones so I thought I could share them with you, the loyal readers of our family blog.

This is one of the first pictures I took with my new phone. Benny was in the sitting room at his Grandma and Grandpa Kenny's house with uncle Scoops. When I found him, he was watching a video and the headphones weren't plugged into anything. He just thought they were cool to wear. Look how young he looks! I have to admit, he does look pretty cool.

That same Christmas I was talking smack about how awesome the gifts we got for Benny and Sammy's cousins were to my brother-in-law. I thought for sure we had him beat with a "My Daddy Is Handsome" t-shirt from Old Navy. I was crushed in the unofficial contest we were having by these Cincinnati Bengals jogging suits. I am sure my jaw hit the floor when they were opened and I immediately conceded the contest. For Ken's sake I hope none of his meat head Bears fan friends find out he actually purchased Bengals gear, even if it was for his favorite two nephews who have the last name Kresl.

I could never decide if having the boys say "cheeeeeese" or snapping a quick pic of the two of them shortly afterwards was cuter. In this case I kept them both. This was right before Benny started insisting on seeing the picture immediately after it was taken so there aren't many more of these sets of pics taken a minute apart from each other.

In the old days, like the early part of this century, if one parent was away from the rest of the family they would have to wait until the other parent got home with the digital camera to see the cuteness that went on while they were away. In some cases, they would have to wait for pictures to be developed. These are some classics from the few times that one of us has been away from the rest of the family and had to depend on text messaging to see our buddies. The one on the right is taken in the basement at Grandma and Grandpa Kenny's house. Benny kinda knows what air hockey is about and Sammy doesn't like to hit any of the 5 pucks to the other end of the table. It is an awesome game to referee. The one on the left is a picture of Sammy on an early morning at Grandma Kresl's while Renee was in Carbondale.

Every so often while I'm in the living room watching Scrubs or reading up on OneCarbonHill, I snap back to reality and figure out that I should see what the boys are doing. If you can't tell, the picture on the left is toilet paper and the picture on the right is kleenex. As far as I know these are the only times Sammy pulled this. If I had to go get the camera instead of just reaching in my pocket, I don't think I would have gotten these 'caught in the act' type poses.

And who brings their camera to Lowe's on a home improvement shopping trip with the buddies? Psycho overbearing parents who want to give there kids a superiority complex, that's who. But normal parents bring their cell phones to Lowe's. Usually so they can call there wife and get permission to buy something or to be reminded of what they went for in the first place. After the initial fascination with the birds flying around the store wears off and daddy makes his fifth trip down the same aisle, a little body can get tired.

Great pictures! Sammy with the kleenex is my favorite.

Not only have we just purchased our first digital camera three months ago, but my cell phone is just a regular ol' phone. No picture taking for me, which is why I'm one of those overbearing psycho parents with the camera at Lowe's (or, in our case, Home Depot).

Do your boys have the ability to fall asleep anywhere, at anytime? If so, could they teach that trick to the girls? Cause that would be fantastic.

Very sweet. So the looking up and down the same aisle annoyance is hereditary? Something tells me Jane doesn't do it though.

to the mrs.- trust me, he has never done that in my company before. that was one of those early as always saturdays after a later than usual friday. he is not the one you want teaching the girls anything about sleeping.

to megan e.-(that's my sister-in-law) you can always come visit. we would love to have you and renee and i need a night out whenever we can get it.

to j- (that's my oldest sister) in my defense they had just rearranged the store.

wait a moment--lowe's has birds flying around? sick. and intriguing... i want to bring my brother patrick there bc he is petrified of free-flying bird. it would make him wet his pants and that would be funny. next time you guys come up to chi-town, we can do that for an outing! woooo
