Happy 231st Birthday America!

On the Fourth of July, we went over to Erik and Christina's house. Erik grilled out on their newly completed deck and we watched the Sox game while the boys played with blocks. When Christina took out the blocks, we couldn't help but laugh because there were blocks int eh set that were the size of a 2 foot section of a 2x4. Tim and I immediately pictured the same thing -- one of the boys "accidentally" hitting the other one upside the head with them. The boys had a great time building towers and ramps for matchbox cars. You'll notice in the picture, Benny is trying out Sammy's trademark Cranky Eyebrows.

One thing before I go any further. Andy was wearing a shirt given to him by his Godfather Scott Olsen. In case you can't read it, it says ,"Now that I'm safe, I'm Pro-Choice." After the initial chuckle, I found it a little disturbing. But given the look on Andy's face in the picture, I don't think he's a liberal like his Mom and Dad!

After dinner, the fireworks started. The main Bloomington fireworks were mostly obstructed by the trees, so since it was 9:30, we decided to head home. Sammy was surprisingly not scared of the fireworks, however Benny was a little fraidy-cat. When we were leaving, the Bloomington Country Club fireworks started, which was not far from their house. While trying to take a shortcut, I accidentally found an awesome place to watch the fireworks, so I pulled over. I took Sammy out of the van and we stood and watched while Benny sat strapped in his car seat watching through the windshield. He was too scared to get out of the car, but still said that he liked the fireworks.

that t-shirt is somewhat nausea-inducing.
