"Vacation" Day 1

Most banks have a policy that all employees are required to take 5 consecutive vacation days spanning a Monday through Friday. This is enable to comb through all of your work and make sure that you are not cooking the books to steal money. Anyway, my week is this coming week, meaning that today is the first day of vacation. Since we could use an extra $360, we have decided to have the boys stay home with me for the week. Benny was very excited to go on vacation, until he finally realized yesterday after school that we were not in fact going anywhere for vacation. Anyone who stays home with a 3 year old and 2 year old can tell you that it is no vacation, hence the quotation marks in the title.

This morning we were off to our usual shotgun start at 6:15. We took a walk on the wild side this morning and deviated from our usual cinnamon rolls on Saturday. Benny insisted we get doughnuts today, so we were in line at Dunkin Donuts at 7:00. Awesome.

After breakfast the boys played for a while and Tim turned on some music to do a little cleaning up. You may not be able to tell from this picture, but he is actually dancing while putting the dishes away. Between the dancing and the cleaning, I could barely keep my hand off of him. Yes you will notice in the picture the the two sides of the sink each had so many dishes that they had actually converged in into one pile of filth. I'm not proud.

While we didn't "do" anything today, the boys did find ways to have some fun.
They jumped on the bed. This is their new favorite thing to do. They ask to play on the bed daily. While it is against my better judgement since Sammy doesn't have the best balance, I can't say no.

This picture below depicts a Kresl Boys original. They now like to play tug-of-war with Benny's blankie--in their mouths. Benny always wins, but Sammy thinks that it is so funny. I think it's disgusting.

They made me some pasta. Which, by the way, was delicious. Benny was wanting to try out a new recipe that he saw on Everyday Italian this morning.

Nap time was not their best showing today. While given the choice of either going right to bed or having a snack, they chose neither....

By the time the boys got up from their nap, we were already watching the White Sox bloodbath. After a while, Benny was so stir crazy that he put his blankie into a pile and was running circle around it. We decided to bring them to the playground to blow off some steam. We haven't been to the playground in probably 2 months since it has been so hot, so that boys were pretty excited.

When we got home, boys still wanted to play outside. Since Tim just fertilized the lawn today, the couldn't play on the grass, so they decided to ride bikes.

This next picture I thought was hilarious. While under normal circumstances, setting up a chair in the middle of your front lawn is probably not that big a deal, since we live on a fairly busy street, everything is magnified. While I look at this picture of my husband in the middle of our front lawn, I think I can hear the faint sound of banjos playing in the distance....

I love my boys, and I mean this in the most adoring way possible.

Day 1 down, 9 more to go.

I couldn't help but shake my moneymaker this morning. I was bumpin' to the old school sounds of Young MC, Rob Bass and DJ EZ Rock, and Eric B and Rakhim. Could you help but get down with those sounds filling the kitchen?

Rob Bass is the bomb! I'm going to add that to my Ipod.

Super cute entry Renee! Does "vacation" mean you will get lots of bloggin in? I hope so. I've really cut back too due to work starting, too.

I decided this summer that vactions are God's way to gently reminding me why I am not a stay at home mom. Props to those who do it and are still sane!

I am actively keeping Shortcake away from your blog a)because she would totally dig the tug-of-war idea and b)because your boys get cuter every single time you post a picture. And she's not allowed to talk to boys until she's 45.

TLK, I'm glad you decided to put some clothes on this time!
