Have you ever played hide-and-go-seek with a two and three year old? It's not as competitive as you might think. The boys wanted to play with me the other day so we went into the basement for our first game ever. Benny decided that he would hide first and Sammy and I would count.
"You and Sammy count and I'll go hide. Go put your face on the wall and over there and I'll go hide under the train table." Surprisingly, Sammy knew how to hide his eyes. It was adorable to watch him count to ten with his hands over his eyes and pushed up against the wall. When we were done counting, I had to teach Sammy the "Ready or not, here I come" part. We walked, well I walked and Sammy ran, across the living room to the door of the toy room and there was Benny. He was laying next to the train table, not under it, and it was the side closest to the door. He was giggling with his hands over his eyes. Sammy yelled and ran right up to him and flopped right on top of him.
They rolled around and laughed and then Benny popped up and said, "This time me and Sammy will count and you hide Daddy. Let's go count Sammy." They giggled and ran across the living room to the same spot Sammy and I counted. I found what I thought was a good spot to hide, behind the door to the laundry room. The boys came looking but didn't look behind the door. They started asking each other where I was and then called out for me. When they came back in the laundry room, I gave out a little snicker to help them out. They screamed and laughed and we all hugged and it was a very touching moment.
"Daddy, you and Sammy go count and I'll hide behind this door." So Sammy and I hurried through the toy room, around the couch, passed the T.V., stepped over various trains and bats and balls until we were back to the counting spot. Then we counted, hurried past the couch, stepped over various trains and toys, around the corner, through the toy room, and into the laundry room. The boys squealed like tween girls at a Hannah Montana concert and we spent the next half hour taking turns hiding and counting. Every time, hiding in the same spot, counting in the same spot, and squealing like girls as if we are some how surprised that the hider is behind the door.
The best part is when Sammy hides. He just can't take the anticipation of Benny and I coming to find him. When we get to the toy room, Sammy will have come around the door and is already squealing and hopping up and down. Trust me, if this sounds like fun, you haven't done it four times in the past two weeks for thirty minutes at a time.

i can't wait to see them in 3 weeks!!!
...i was really hoping for some halloween pictures with this post though.
You're nicer than I am - I choose to hide in tough spots and when she's least expecting it jump in front of her screaming "BOO!". You haven't seen girly screams until you've seen McKenna's reaction to that.
Needless to say, this is a big hit at our house right now too with much the same results. Hiding in plain site, laughing loudly to further give away her hiding place, etc. Maybe we should get the four of them together and let them go hog wild on Hide & Go Seek while we enjoy some adult conversation (and beverages). =)
i wish we could play hide and seek at thanksgiving w/ all teh kennys! oh that';s right...you're not COMING.
First, I want to know how you know about Hannah Montana? Second, they always play hide and go seek at grandma Kresl's in the basement. Isn't it funny how they tell you where they are going to hide!!!!!!
